This self drive trip to Morocco is an adventure like no other; we’ll explore vibrant cities, vast deserts and striking mountain ranges – all teeming with life and the unexpected!
While in Morocco we’ll stay in Auberges (these are best described as a cross between a campsite, a B&B and a hotel) so you’ll have access to rooms with beds, toilets and showers. If you would like to camp, wild or at a site, this can be accommodated on the trip too – Auberges accommodate camping as well as provide rooms.

Morocco 2025 itinerary
Depart Portsmouth on the 11th April at 2130 on the Brittany ferries sailing. Arrive at Santander at 0800 on the 13th april.
Day on the ferry
Stay in Seville, approximately 7.5 hours from Santander. Go shopping for supplies such as Food & Drinks for when we arrive in Morocco.
Drive to Algeciras from Seville, approx 2-2.5hrs.
Sail to Tangers Med on earliest ferry.
4-5hr drive south to Casablanca.
Auberge/hotel for the night, arriving approx 1600/1700.
Make our way to Marrakesh, have an explore and see what we can find.
Possibly down the coast road to Safi then back inland towards the city.
Unsure of arrival time, stay at Le Relais De Marrakesh

Day off to explore Marrakesh
Head to Taliouine over the Atlas Mountains on the ‘Tiz n Test’ road, approx 6/7hrs driving. Plenty of stops in the mountains, possibly stay in the mountains and not make Taliouine.
Go to Zagora via Foum Zguid to have the vehicles checked at Garage Iriki and stay the night.
On the way find bits of desert to have a play in.
Head to Erg Chebbi (4hrs from Zagora) for a play in the dunes. Visit Gara Medouar (crater used in films) Camel ride?
Hire some quads or buggies to bomb around the dunes in.
Stay at an Auberge.
Make our way back through the desert to stop off for the night in the Dades Gorge.
(4-5hrs driving)
Loose plan for the next few days because we need to gauge terrain in the mountains, find garages and places to stay etc.
8-9hr drive to Fes (buy a red hat).
Possibly stop over night on the way.
If we stopped in Fes then drive to Chefchaouen via the El Wahda Dam and stay the night.
If we didn’t stay in Fes then stop off in the city to buy a Fes and cut out the dam.
Head out to the east coast and find a pretty place to stay for the night.
Head back to Tangers so we can catch the ferry on the 25th.
Early ferry from Tangers Med to Algeciras.
6-7 hr drive to Salamanca
Explore Salamanca and stay.
Drive to Santander to catch the ferry home. Need to arrive 2.5 hours prior to departure.
Please note: This a fluid trip, things change on the move and the itinerary isn’t set in stone.
It is a self drive trip in your own vehicle.
Accommodation and ferry fees are not included in the road trip price.
